Founded in 1989 Magic Me continues to grow in size and reach. Magic Me is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. Directors of the company are also Trustees of the charity; they receive no payment for their time, energy and expertise. Trustees are elected at the Annual General Meeting held every Autumn.

Magic Me is a lean organisation with a small core staff team. Trustees provide further essential knowledge and experience across key areas. Trustees meet as a Committee every two months, agreeing strategy and direction, and give practical hands on support between meetings. Examples include policy review, development of IT systems and leading annual staff appraisals.

Magic Me’s financial year ends on 31st March each year. Copies of our audited Annual Accounts can be viewed on the Charity Commission website.

Magic Me is committed to providing a high quality service to all its users, potential users and staff. To this end, and to meet our legal responsibilities, we have developed a number of policies and practices. The policies have been written specifically for our intergenerational work. For instance Safeguarding Children & Young People covers the detail of planning activities which prepare young and older people who are strangers to meet and work together in a positive and safe way. Visit our policies page to download and read our policies and procedures.

Reaching the Standard

Magic Me holds the “Approved Provider Standard for Organisations Providing Intergenerational Projects or Programmes” awarded by the Centre for Intergenerational Practice. The Standard covers every aspect of setting up and delivering high quality services. Our Director, Susan Langford, contributed to the development and design of the APS, which is Magic Me was one of first organisations in the country to pilot and receive the Standard in 2006.
